The Act requires states to develop a plan for the ongoing oversight and coordination of health care services for children in foster care. The plan should ensure a coordinated strategy to identify and respond to the health care needs of children in foster care placements, including mental health and dental health needs. The plan should outline a schedule for initial and follow-up health screening, how health needs identified through screenings will be monitored and treated, how medical information will be updated and appropriately shared, how continuity of health care will be ensured, and how oversight of prescription medications will be achieved.
